Rust Prevention Farm Machinery

Rust Prevention Farm Machinery Australia

Protection of your farm machinery in Australia begins by using the appropriate rust prevention. You can apply paint to many of your machines to prevent the buildup of rust. But there are other methods you can use to augment rust prevention on your machinery.

What follows are a few tips that will help you maintain your machinery on the farm. Doing a little prevention work each day can go a long way towards protecting the machines which operate on your property.

Rust Protection Paint Protection

The paint application to tillage tools such as the moldboard plows provides a thick, strong layer of protection. The paint itself is normally flat black and can hold up to considerable impact and scraping. However, it will need to be reapplied to maintain its rust-prevention elements.

Paint products are available for all rust protection concerns.

Rust Prevention by cleaning the Machinery in Australia

Cleaning the machinery thoroughly after each use will help with rust prevention. The equipment on your farm in Australia will quickly build up dust, dirt, crop dust, oil.

Such elements can be corrosive over time.

This is particularly true with the contact of oil and grease on your machinery. Add to this precipitation and you have all the makings for rust buildup.

Wash the machinery thoroughly. By getting rid of the dirt, dust, and other elements, it removes areas where rust can potentially start and buildup.

If some corrosion is spotted, apply a rust remover paint.

Wax Protection

A good quality automotive wax applied once a year can protect the farm equipment. It will block any dirt, dust, or other buildup from sticking to the sides of the machinery.

Even the best trained eyes can miss areas that allow for corrosion buildup. Waxing the equipment can reduce the chances even more of rust finding a home on your equipment.

Grease Moving Parts

Before you store the machinery, be sure to grease the moving parts. This prevents moisture and humidity from causing a corrosion buildup on the bearings.

Be sure to grease the areas that contain moving parts and wax those that do not.

Hydraulic Tips for prevention of moisture on the equipment

The hydraulic fittings are some of the most popular areas for rust to form. When you unlock such fittings from your tractor, you should hang them up and not let them touch the ground.

By keeping them away from the ground, you prevent a source of moisture from starting the corrosion process on the hydraulic tips.

Storage Areas for Farm Machinery

Your storage areas should be fully protected from precipitation, heat, and wind as much as possible. Even wind contains an erosive element that can slowly reduce the paint and other protections you have applied to your farm machinery.

Rust prevention is the key. By protecting the farm machinery against the UV rays of the sun and the heat, you can maintain the paint better. This means that the protection lasts longer, and you spend less when it comes to the protection applied.

Rust Proofing for Farm Machinery

Farming machinery is not just a purchase, it is an investment. Rust Proofing your investment in Australia starts by employing the appropriate rust prevention. Be sure to paint your machinery to provide that first layer of protection. And follow-up with the right cleaning, storage, and using techniques that limit the chances of rust doing damage to your machinery.

Rust Bullet Australasia has products to prevent rust build up. Contact the team on 0415 168 902, they can talk you through the procedure.
